International team games

Engelsk:

This is a way for local groups to do an international activity without even leaving the group-house. It is only for children aged 8-12. It is ideal for a group meeting or two.
“International Team Games” is an event arranged by Global Fellowship, which FDF is a member of, and the British part of Boys Brigade.
The idea is that the children is split up into groups of 6, and that they compete in 6 different challenges/games. The results the teams get in these games are written down and send to a representative from Global Fellowship. Thereby the children from your local group are competing with children from youth organizations around the world!
It may sound fancy and confusing but it is really easy – and fun!

Maltesisk Symaskine

Maltese Cric-Croc:

This is a fun and easy game to do!

The participants should be split into two groups and placed in two rows facing each other. Both rows should now lie down, the first person should lie flat on his/her stomach and the next in the line should stand on all four, the persons besides him/her should lie down on the stomach, and so on. When the game begins that the last person in the line should try and crawl over and under the row the team forms. When that person has made it through the next in line should start. The team who gets everyone through first wins!
The tricky part is, besides from climbing over and under your teammates, that every time the leader claps or yells, those who are lying on their stomach have to change to standing and all four and all of those who were standing before should lie down on their stomach. Everyone should do their best to change position even though their teammate might be under or above them.
This game is good both in- and outdoors.

Finsk Hanekamp

Finnish Duckfight

The Finnish Duckfight requires an observant leader and can easily be played more than one round at a time.
The game is simple: the participants should be spread out over a certain area in the room/on the field. Every participant now have to squat and cross their arms. The game starts now, and the participants have to knock down each other, still being in the same position as the one the began with. The last person standing wins!
The leader have to be careful that no one cheats by using their arms and hands to push people, and to see if people plays dirty in general.

Belgisk hulahop stafet.

Børnene deles op i 4 lige store hold.

Belgian Hula-hoop Relay

The children should be split up into 4 equally sized teams. The 4 teams should be placed in rows forming a square, so that team 1 and 3 face each other and 2 and 4 does the same. Every team member now gets a number, which should be represented on each team (so that every team have a 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). There have to be some distance between the team rows.
Two balls, a big and a small (could be a tennis and a football), should be placed in the center of the square. Furthermore a leader should stand in front of every team row with a hula-hoop. The leader should now yell out a number, the team member (from every team) with that number (e.g. 4) now have to run through the hula-hoop to try and get one, or both, of the balls. The different teams will meet in the middle and fight for the balls. The ball and thereby points, are secured by a team when the participant have returned with the ball in his hand through the hula-hoop.
The small ball is 1 point and the big ball is 2 points.

Materials: 4 hula-hoops (or a creative alternative), 2 balls.

Deltagerne deles ind i to hold af 3 deltagere.

English Tic Tac Toe

This game is simple and can be used in many situation.
9 chairs are set up: 3 rows of 3 chairs. Two teams with 3 players each are competing. The rules are: 9 chairs are set up: 3 rows of 3 chairs. There are 2 teams each with 3 players. Here are the Tic Tac Toe rules: One players out of team one sits on a chair of his choice, then someone from team 2 does the same. Then team one goes again etc. When both teams have ‘placed’ their 3 players, they can swap amongst themselves – but always alternating between teams 1 and 2!

The winner is he who is first manages to place his players into a row (diagonally, horizontally) or diagonally.

The important thing! No one is allowed to say a word – not even the bystanders. If a participant says something, the team loses! The players also have to communicate using sign language.

Maltese Cat-and-Mouse game

The Cat-and-mouse game comes in a lot of different version – here is the Maltese. The game requires quiet a lot of participant and some space as well.
All participants, except two (a cat and a mouse) is split up into equally long rows. People should be standing with their arms to the side so that only the fingertips touch (this can be regulated to the size of the room available). The cat and the mouse are now released in between the rows, and the cat’s objective is of course to outrun and catch the mouse. If the mouse gets caught, the roles change. The cat and the mouse are not allowed to run underneath people’s arms or between their legs. They can only shift row by running to the end of the one they are in and run to another.
The trick in the game is that when the leader claps the people forming the rows have to turn 90 degrees in the same direction, so that the rows are now facing the other way, and the cat and mouse find themselves in totally different positions.
When the mouse gets tired it can position itself in another person’s spot and that person would now be the cat.
It would be a good idea to practice the turn-movement a couple of times before starting the game.
